TROY, N.Y. (August 17, 2007) — CornerStone Telephone Company, an integrated communications provider, announced today the purchase of a multi-service access platform (MSAP), which will enable them to provision a wide range of services for their customers, from one streamlined system.
“The purchase of the MSAP allows us to give our customers a better value for the services we offer,” said Dan Yamin, co-founder and CEO of CornerStone Telephone Company. “We are able to increase our to provide our customers with premium voice and high speed data, as well as offer advanced digital services in some areas for the first time.”
The MSAP product was purchased through Zhone Technologies, a provider of advanced communications equipment to more than 600 operators worldwide. Zhones MALC™ multi-service access platform simplifies the provisioning and management of the full range of multi-play services. Designed for today’s evolving network infrastructures, Zhone's consolidated platform strategy lets operators deliver voice, video and data services via fiber or copper. Service providers can provision Gigabit Passive Optical Networks (GPON), Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM) A/DSL and traditional TDM services from one streamlined system.
CornerStone will use Zhone’s MSAP to support their SkySphere product, as well as roll out their high-speed DSL and voice services. In the future, CornerStone will have the option of providing their customers with advanced digital services, including VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) and IPTV (Internet Protocol TV).
The platform will serve customers in the 518, 315 and 845 area codes.
In addition to its headquarters in Troy, N.Y., CornerStone has offices located in Poughkeepsie, Syracuse, New York City, Nyack, Oneonta and Amsterdam. The company was founded in 2001, by Don Walsh and Dan Yamin, and today employs over 115 people in its seven locations.
